Why are no real world examples allowed on this trope? It is universally understod that the Berlin Wall, was used for that excat purpose.

I think it's because walls are a bit of a topical issue at the moment what with a certain someone having a vested interest in building one so it could make people become a bit partisan. They'll probably allow Real Life Examples in the future once things have blown over.
