I'm not sure if what I witnessed is the same proposal that this entry refers to, but I attended Fan Expo Toronto a few years ago (before the Dark Knight had come out) and witnessed a masquerade entry which was supposed to simply be The Joker and Harley Quinn, but during their time onstage the Joker got down on one knee and proposed to Harley Quinn in front of the entire audience! I think he said something similar to "Will you be my Harley Quinn?" but I can't remember. (Awww... nerd love!) Could this be the incident that the trope page refers to? Does anyone else know?

Basically, and you're not alone. This troper had it happen not once, but twice at the same goddamn masquerade at Conneticon. Maybe I should make a general entry about this....

I'm sure it is about to happen yet again on Team Fortress 2 with an undocumented change that happened on December 19, 2011 in which a new item was added to the game: The "Something special for someone special"
The item is gift-wrappable but it hasn't been published and is not present anywhere else.
Valve has shown support to their players already before with the Portal 2 proposal in which even Ellen Mc Lain made new lines for G La DOS specifically for this.
I hope to see this story soon.
I can't wait for it to happen!
