If you're really angry that a character who would seem important to you was killed off, would you demand the author's and producers to undo those deaths?

I've seen the claim that it was Queen Victoria who convinced Conan Doyle to resurrect Holmes before, but I've not seen any solid sources for it. "The Adventure of the Empty House" was published in late 1903, more than two years after her death.
I could maybe believe that Edward VII mentioned it on the occasion of Sir Arthur's knighting in 1902, but that's not as good a story, is it?
