This trope's name is weird. The adjective "eponymous" means "giving its name to something". In the cases at hand, it's not the show that gives its name to something, but a person or character featured in it who gives the show (part of) its name.
For the sake of accuracy, I suggest we change the trope name to "The Eponym Show", since the definition of "eponym" is (after The Other Wiki) "the name of a person, whether real or fictitious, after which a particular place, tribe, era, discovery, or other item is named or thought to be named." This fits the definition of the trope much better.
