It's the fact that sci-fi writers frequently fall back on using the same handful of star names when there's literally infinite room to come up with their own. Stock Dinosaurs is kind of the same thing.

No offense, but it feels like something that belongs to Useful Notes at best. It's another Cone of Shame, something that isn't even a proper trope, but got green-lighted anyway.

I respectfully disagree. Sci-fi writers constantly using the same handful of names when they don't have to, and when newly-invented names would do just as well, is absolutely a trope. The Useful Notes option was mentioned in the TLP discussion, but Stock Dinosaurs was deemed an acceptable precedent.
