A surprising number of locks still can be jimmied with a plastic card, and a credit card will work much of the time, although it will often be damaged in the process. Including the lock on my own front door.

Yeah, if the door opens inwards, and there's any play in the hinge or gap between the latch position and the moulding, you can pop open the average door with a credit card, knife, bent piece of metal, what have you. Which is why you should install a manual bolt lock and not depend solely on a latch, which's main purpose is to keep the door closed from wind.
