There's an episode of Mission:Impossible where this trope is invoked (along with Conjoined Twins surgically separated). It's a subversion because the other twin doesn't actually exist; it's a case of latex perfection, playing on the target's past (and lack of knowledge thereof), and the use of cigarettes containing a chemical to make the target suggestible. The 'in' is that the target desires to have his tarot read. (I can't remember the title, though. I think it was a revival series one, but I'm not 100% sure.)
