As I understand it, both tropes are about someone maintaining two (or more) "versions" of themselves, and stuggling with which one's real, but a person with double consciousness doesn't necessarily have two "identities" in the superhero sense; somebody who has one persona around their friends and another around their family doesn't usually use a different name around the different groups.
Although looking at the examples for both, there's clearly a lot of overlap.
So, is there any particular reason this wasn't called 'Secret Identity Crisis'?
Hide / Show RepliesEight months later...no, wait. Eight months and a year later, and somehow this trope still has the stupid, intractable name "Secret Identity Identity" instead of the obvious and logical one above. I'd post in the Repair Shop about it, but somehow there's 148 threads in there when only 100 are allowed. Anyone have an objection to just changing the name already? Or at the very least, adding "Secret Identity Crisis" as an alternate name?

If anyone could explain in more detail the comparison and differences of this trope and Double Consciousness, it would be most welcomed. I'm a bit confused despite the written descriptions. Thank you in advance.
