I noticed shortly before launching this that a man named Radell Faraday Nelson claims that he started the trend of propeller hats within the science-fiction fandom, and that he designed the Beany character that would go on to popularise the hat in Time With Beany.

claims that he started the trend of propeller hats within the science-fiction fandom, and that he designed the Beany character that would go on to popularise the hat in Time With Beany.
I have yet to find a title to a work of his (Here's a website that showcases some of his works and personal thoughts
