this is wrong - placebo effect is not mind overmatter. The placebo effect is scientists way of eliminating all effects except what is being studied. EG if someone is put in a wieghtloss trial and given an inert pill and lose weight, it could be:

  • better eating becausethey are now important
  • better eating because they are getting weighed more often
  • burning calories walking to trial
