This was huge back in 1980s Western Animation. If anyone ever gets around to watching an old 80s cartoon, it will be full of this trope. I remember that this trope always annoyed me as a child. It's definitely not one of those "tropes aren't bad" tropes. I distinctly remember the "Dennis the Menace" cartoon from 1986 being guilty of this in just about every episode, though now I can't precisely think of examples. I later figured that it was because each actor read their parts separately, and then they were edited together, that's why there was a Paused Interrupt.
