You know, this trope makes a certain amount of sense when dealing with a base where a lot of people need to be coming or going, such as Unit or Torchwood from Doctor Who: set up in some subtle location like an old warehouse and people might grow suspicious of the unusual amount of activity around it, but at a tourist attraction, there are scores of people visiting the place at all times, it would be easy for Mooks accessing the base to just blend into the crowd, particularly if they don't get into uniform until they are inside.

  • The huge movie studio in The Truman Show was behind the Hollywood Sign. Of course, there's nothing hidden about it, given that it's a gigantic dome clearly visible from space.

I don't think this counts, considering it's not hidden from view by the landmark.
