Is it really controversial to say that rape isn't something anyone deserves? I'm a bit bothered that the trope description says "Of course, many people would argue that no one, no matter how evil, deserves rape. Due to the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment, we're not here to take sides." Is there a large number of editors on this website who support the notion that some people "had it coming"?
Edited by Timjames98Just a clarification - must examples be strictly "karmic" (ie, guided by fate rather than the revenge of a particular character) in order to qualify? Plenty of the examples at the moment are not.
Hide / Show RepliesNot really. The storytelling purpose isn't different.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'd tend to agree. There are too many cases where "the revenge of a particular character" can be construed as an agent of narrative karma to make it useful to try to draw a distinction between the two. I'll tweak the trope description a little to make that more clear.
Are there any cases with this trope overlaps with Alas, Poor Villain?
