It's a formatting thing. I don't like images being on the left with text wrapping around them, especially if there's quotes at the top of the page. It just looks off to me, probably a holdover from my serious Wikipedia days. My personal rule of thumb is that if there's enough text so that the image and caption can be right-aligned without cutting into the divider line and trope listing, then they should be.
