So, what's the Unfortunate Implication in Oonuma's fainting spells and weight loss? I really don't get this one. I can't delete it just because I don't get it, but I'd still like to know.

Specialty: Laser Guided Spellchecks on blatant misspellings. No that's not a trope. Hide / Show Replies

Anorexia and Bulimia, which can trigger Anemia. Fainting spells can be symptoms of it.

It's not unfortunate implications-it was explicityly stated that she was Anorexic, due to her weight issues when she was younger.

Oonuma never mentioned explicitly that she lost her weight to Anorexia or Bulimia... but it's still possible.

Also, Oonuma never mentioned why she wanted to lose the weight all of the sudden. Was it for health reasons or because she wanted to look like the models in magazines, several of which are confirmed Anorexics.

So, it can be unfortunate implications because it's possible to jump from A to B to C. What do you think, everyone?

So...doesn't that just make it 'Implications' on it's own?

Well, it is pretty benign vis a vis other Unfortunate Implication entries — but it does seem not make much of girls becoming anorexic/bulimic for the sake of looking better, or rather, that it can be construed like that, and the consequences it can have AKA anemia amongst other complications of such eating disorders. *shrugs*
