Shouldn't this be Sliding Scale Of Enthusiasm Versus Stoicism? When I clicked on this page for all I knew it was some sort of character dynamic between heroes and villains.

First the metaphor of a number line was used, which I envisioned as horizontal— because, you know, the main apparently-infinite line that exists in most people's lives is the horizon— and then the idea that the point on the line that a character occupies is their "baseline"— which, by extension, would be vertical— and suddenly I was confronted with a vertical wave function. For some reason, this was the trippiest thing ever. Thank you.
