Here's a trope idea: Later Adaptation Weirdness
Things that could qualify for it:
Western Animation: The 2019 Clifford the Big Red Dog reboot (the one where Clifford talks to Emily, the characters no longer having Black Bead Eyes, the Peg + Cat-esque art style, and the fact that fan-favorites such as Cleo and T-Bone are nowhere to be seen), since this is a rather recent reboot, I wonder if they'll pull a Veggie Tales and revert the characters to the way that they looked in the 2000 series. Franklin and Friends (The one where it's in CGI and Bear has a flamboyant blue vest for some reason) The Garfield Show (the one where Garfield opens his mouth every time he talks, not Garfield and Friends (the one with US Acres)) The 2002 He-Man Reboot (the one where Cringer/Battlecat doesn't talk and the plots are Darker and Edgier), after it ended, merchandise reverted the characters to the way that they looked in the 80's merchandise and cartoon. Wolverine and the X-Men (the one where Cyclops has a trench coat, which AFAIK hasn't shown up in any non-WATXM related media, and there's also the art style that makes it look like Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, but it's stories are more in the tone of Sonic Sat AM), like with He-Man, following Disney's purchase of Fox, merchandise reverted to the way that the characters looked in the 90's cartoon.
Quick question, what would be the fanfic equivalent of this trope?
