Would anyone mind if I edited the description to be less specifically exclusive of deities who are “only” god-like? I don’t see why the ascended deity needs to be a capital-G supreme creator god to qualify for this, given that half the examples don’t obey that rule.

Does Maeve in Westworld qualify for this trope? Ford is essentially a self-made god of the Hosts, who can create new Hosts, telepathically command them and dictate narratives they have to act out. In Season 2, it is revealed he has transferred his powers to Maeve, making her essentially a man-made goddess.

Dungeons And Dragons

Rozak d'Koynam subverts the Trope definition.

Rozak is a Human who built the best Bridge evah and became God of Bridges. Pontiffs build real bridges and spiritual bridges from this world to the next.

Rozak is not a creator god, he is god of one aspect of human life.

Is there a trope that Rozak fits?

Should we include Religion and Mythology examples for this trope? A number of historical cultures believed that human rulers could ascend to Godhood either during their lifetime or after their death.
