For the Dragon Ball Z example, the wording suggests that it is the Trope Maker, and while it is easily the most recognisable example of the trope, it neither qualifies as the true first nor does it really count as the first recognisable example of this trope.
One only needs to look back a decade to the first Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla for an example of the exact same flavour of beam struggle being used, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were earlier examples than that.
With this in mind, how would we feel about altering the wording to better represent the reality of the situation & avoid confusion? Or am I missing something about the how these things are classified?
