Am I the only one who absolutely DESPISES this trope as a way to garner sympathy for someone?
I hate the idea of "I'm racist/ misogynistic/ transphobic/ etc asshole too, but at least I admit it" as if it means your actions are more justified than someone who doesn't admit it. F*** no. it makes you WORSE because what you are doing is wrong, you KNOW what you are doing is wrong, and yet you continue doing it. Its why Glen Quagmire's "take that" to Bryan Griffin in Family Guy pisses me off so much. Make no mistake, Bryan is an asshole, but to act like you somehow have the higher ground because you are aware you are a womanizing prick is arrogance at its highest.
