Beat me to it!

Well, crap, I thought I was going to be able to launch this page. :) Rather than having my work go to waste, I'll see about integrating my writeup into this article:

Immortals After Dark is a urban fantasy/romance novel series by Kresley Cole. The world of the "Lore" — beings that humans think are myths — is violent and brutal, but there are advantages, like incredible hotness and immortality.

Most of the time (unless you are a red-eyed vampire), other immortals will leave you alone if you aren't one of their allies. However, about every 500 years or so is the Ascension, a war of attrition that pits different species of immortals against each other. Rather than any one pitched battle or declared war, immortal factions find themselves drawn into conflicts that often end with immortal deaths. (One theory is that the universe is mystically controlling the immortal population, driving them to fight each other when the population gets too high.)

While many species within the Lore have friends and allies in other factions, but there is always an us-against-them vibe to those who are "Other". Intermarriages within Lore factions, while not unheard of, are pretty rare — between some groups more than others.

There are 10 books out so far, number 11 is due out in January 2012 and will cover a major recurring character in many of the previous books.
