Hi there! I'm an avid reader of TV Tropes. I've never done editing before, though, but as the page says, I think this article needs more love. I feel pretty new to this whole troping business, so if you disagree with something or I've made some stupid mistakes, feel free to edit as much as you want

When I read this book, I noticed something odd: the plot is eerily similar to "I Kill Giants." There's the monster, the bully, the protagonist who can't accept that the mother is dying...the big difference is that in this book, the monster shows up at the beginning. So I figured that should be listed on the page as a Shout Out. But I have no idea if Patrick Ness ever read "I Kill Giants". And it seems like more of a remix than a shout-out anyway. What sort of trope would that fall under? Maybe "The Not Remix"?
