Maybe this is just me, but I'm ... uncomfortable with having Death by Adaptation, Dies Differently in Adaptation and Spared by the Adaptation here, at least as regards the actual TL and not in-universe media. I don't think of ATLs as "adaptations" of Real Life, which is not a narrative, and for some reason framing it as "in this version of the story, Jim doesn't die" strikes me as squicky in a way that "If this had happened, Jim probably wouldn't have died" doesn't. Probably just me.
