Is TV Tropes' indicating the presence of Lampshade Hanging a legitimate example of that trope in Real Life?
According to the article: "Lampshade Hanging (or, more informally, "Lampshading") is the writers' trick of dealing with any element of the story that threatens the audience's Willing Suspension of Disbelief, whether a very implausible plot development, or a particularly blatant use of a trope, by calling attention to it and simply moving on."
The Real Life page is not a story. It is a list of examples taken from real life. As such it is not calling out anything improbable that would threaten the reader's willing suspension of disbelief.
I will delete the example of TV Tropes unless I am persuaded otherwise.
