Why did the Confederacy load tons of gold on an ironclad (which isn't a sea going vessel to start with) send it across the ocean (which is WAY beyond its range) and sail it hundreds of miles up a river into the desert? Its all so implausible that the movie doesn't even bother to try to explain it. Does the book?
