This is driving me crazy, and Googles search results are packed with this movie.

A very similar premise movie came out about 10 years ago, indie movie. Two gay men with their daughter are at a cabin and people hold them hostage saying one of them had to die to prevent an apocalypse. At the end all three escape and the movie ends with them on a road.

Would you happen to know the title of this other movie?

For what it’s worth, the novel that this film is adapted from came about around four years ago.

If i remembered the title this would be easy. I watched it streaming some years back. The cabin was by a lake, the cell service was spotty.

I take it that it wasn’t a big name movie? More something that would be playing on a random channel on an uneventful day?

Nope, wasn't a big name movie. An indie, but the plot sounds almost identical. Still hunting.
