It is mostly habit, as most stories are google docs, and the majority of them aren't interlinked. That makes the norm to be linking to the EQD page as an index, which also allows people to see the comments. Personally, I prefer it that way.
Is there a reason, other than habit, that this page links to Equestria Daily and not directly to the story?
