Glee, the pinnacle of sappiness, actually had a bit of an edge to it in the first few episodes. Remark on this at your own peril, however, you might be told that Glee was always "about as edgy as a satsuma."
About Melrose Place, there's a paragraph that starts with "The apartment tenants were a lot closer than in the first season than they were in later seasons." That's not grammatically correct.
I haven't seen the series, so I don't know if they were closer in the first season or in the later seasons.
If they were closer in the first season, all it takes is to remove the first "then", like this: "The apartment tenants were a lot closer in the first season than they were in later seasons."
If they were closer in the later seasons, I don't know if the phrase can be fixed with minimal changes.
