I think the point is that she's always born Moira Kinross. MacTaggert is her married name, and it's implied that she only married him in her tenth life.
There are other shifts in the dialogue between House of X and Inferno's version of that scene (House of X doesn't mention a surname), but I'd assumed that was Hickman just tweaking it, not a hint it was a different life.

People are assuming that Moira and Destiny's conversation is from her third life, but Destiny calls her "Dr. Mac Taggert", which she was only called in her tenth life. Similarly, she's shown at the ruins of Muir Isle in her tenth life holding a notebook listing the participants from the cure project before it was attacked by Mystique and company, including herself as "Moira Mac Taggert". The logical implication is that Destiny stopped short of killing Moira or Moira faked her death as she did later. Should this be in Ambiguous Situation of WMG?
