When Rose Quartz is first formally discussed, she appears to have been the most loving, charismatic and empathetic person possible, with everyone holding her with high regard. As the series continues however, we gradually learn that she was a far more conniving, deceitful and cruel person then she let people onto, from faking her (Pink Diamond's) death, which left her sisters and soldiers emotionally destroyed, forcing Pearl to be unable to tell anyone what happened, trapping Bismuth into a bubble for thousands of years, abandoning Spinel in a garden for 6,000 years after getting bored with her and not contacting her before she (functionally, if not literally) died, and leaving her son and closest friends with a severe inferiority complex that they still haven't fully worked out. While it's not fair to call her a bitch overall, and she did protect the Earth from her families attempts at destruction, she was far from a model individual or even a particularly good person.
