On a practical level, either works because they're the same person. If someone leaves as "Loid" I won't feel inclined to change because I know Loid and Twilight are the same guy.
But if it's up to my choice, it's Twilight because her relationship is with the actor rather than the character. She doesn't acknowledge Loid Forger as a separate human being, just a work tool of the spy Twilight.
I've seen it argued convincingly that that interview isn't an example of Creator Backlash, that it's been taken out of context, etc. Certainly doesn’t seem like it belongs on the character page. Thoughts?
Edited by Perentie Hide / Show RepliesHere's one link that examines the relevant lines from the interview and how the idea Endo hates his characters came about: https://www.animesenpai.net/fact-check-does-the-author-of-spy-x-family-dislike-anya-and-other-characters/
The interview itself comes from the "Eyes Only" official fan book.
Basically all Endo said was that he doesn't have a personal attachment to the characters, not that he doesn't like them. That he laughed when he said it could indicate he didn't mean it all that seriously either.
Edited by PerentieAm I alone in thinking that some of the tropes here are taking Yuri and Fiona's negative character traits too seriously when they're usually meant to be played for laughs?
Hide / Show RepliesTalking as someone who likes Yuri, it's not inaccurate to say he dislikes Anya, though I am a bit concerned that he got added under Child Hater again after his previous entry was removed since Anya is the only child he's been shown to dislike (and it's more from his obsession over Yor than Anya being a child). It's not the same entry as before, but still.
<(0_0<) <(0_0)> (>0_0)> KIRBY DANCEYeah, I'm not saying their negative attributes shouldn't be detailed, but they seem a bit exaggerated in some of the entries, some of them making them out to be outright villains when the story usually presents them as selfish and quirky/deranged but usually harmless to anyone who doesn't deserve harm.
Edited by PerentieYeah I agree. Especially how they view Yuri's actions in Chapter 71. SPOILIER for Chapter 71 While Yuri, in his head, claimed not to care about Anya, he was the first to confront his superiors over "chihuahua Girl" being on the kidnapped bus. It was only when he was refused did his thoughts turn towards that line of thinking, maybe in the form of self-rationalizing in his head.
Agreed. Been reading the manga since chapter 1 first released, and only recently started browsing the TV tropes page for the series, was a bit taken aback by some of these trope descriptions for them.
Although I don't have a problem with the tropes themselves being present, the descriptions I feel go out of the way to illustrate a very personal dislike of both characters. I'm all for flavorful tone, but these feel a bit too intense and carry a strong subjective tone. A lot of the language used I feel is more appropriate for the YMMV page, maybe under a Base-Breaking Character entry or the like.
Then again, I generally like both characters and and don't really take either character or their actions too seriously, so maybe I'm just biased. Also not looking to starting an Edit War.

Apologies for double post, my internet is acting up.

Should we describe Fiona/Nightfall as Pro-Loid or Pro-Twilight? She exclusively thinks of him romantically as Twilight, so I think the latter should be used.
