Technically Misplaced Retribution isn't entirely true, because while Cluny and Asmodeus were the ones who killed his mother and ruined his face respectively, Matthias killed both of them before he could get his revenge. And we all know how OBSESSED he is with revenge. It actually acknowledges this in the book.
