It was trimmed because the way it was written felt unnecessary. Additionally, saying "of his appearance" is not too helpful because it does not really explain when and where Gina's uncle has this exchange with her. I think mentioning that this happens when the group visits Russia will help explain why him being annoyed with her antics is understandable.

Got trimmed for no reason by PF, excising the important part of stereotypical and disrupting the flow of the sentence by deleting "of his appearance", turning the section into a nonsensical "and he spends a great deal admonishing". "A great deal" of what?
