I find that people use tropes like Irony (and its derivatives) or Hypocrite as a fan-reaction to bash a character. Kinda like how Foil's become an In-Universe Counterpart Comparison.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Yeah, keep quotes as it is, or change it. Since Varys describing Dany that way has become kinda irrelevant, find a more value-neutral quote.
How about that speech she gives in Season 4, "They can either live in my new world, or die in their old one". It certainly describes her for better and worse.
Yep, changing it for that other one seems like a good idea, it's more fitting now. I am going to do just that.
And come to think of it, I believe I was the editor who added Varys's one in the first place, back in the day.
The quote about Danereys being "A ruler loved by millions " is not Dramatic Irony because:
- The trope is about the audience knowing something that the characters's don't, and at the moment the quote is produced, not in hindsight. - Is not about something that merely turns out to be dramatic and / or ironic.
Read trope description.
There is also that other rule about potholes not allowed in starting quotes, but that's another matter.
