You know what sickens me to death more than the rebellious tomboy princess ever did? People being so desperate for something "New" and/or "Different" that they would have such a blatant disregard for something that has always worked and functioned just fine. What had ever happened to the old saying: If it ain't broke, don't fix it? It's not new ideas that I'm against, it's people being far more concerned with whether or not they've seen it before than whether it makes sense. I get it, the characters need traits beyond just the bare-bones minimum, but even the greatest of things can and often do still start with a blank palate.
