I'd say it was fairly evident why I, as the author of this parody (which I see has been altered), felt I had a right to remove it when it didn't (apparently) give satisfaction. (I may say, by the bye, that the difficulty of "rattling through fast-paced tongue twisters with full perspicuity" was absolutely deliberate; the form was intended to reflect the content. It is not a matter of scansion, but of the agglomeration of consonantal sounds not easily pronounceable without absolutely crystal-clear diction.) In the earlier days of the site, it did receive an "Attaboy" (though even then being called "Nintendo Hard"), but it would seem that tastes have changed since then. At this point, I'm a bit sorry I ever posted it at all.
Hello from the distant past! :P
I'm sorry; I didn't realise you were the author. I personally thought the parody was great, as my... much earlier comment I hope does make clear, though I regret its harsh tone in hindsight.
Although... I would say there's an argument to be made that if you post your work on this public wiki, it's... maybe a more complicated question whether you can just unilaterally make decisions about deleting it and such after that point (especially if it *has* been altered and thus now incorporates the work of others as well. I mean... it's a wiki.)
Edited by girlyboySo where would The Llama Song fit into this? It uses the same tune.
I'm shy don't talk to me.This description is a crime against scansion. I tried to sing it to the tune of the song, and let's just say it didn't work. That said, I have no clue how to properly rewrite it.
Hide / Show RepliesI think you just have to pronounce some of the words, ah, creatively. (And this happens in plenty of G&S songs anyway... :P )
I certainly don't think any re-write is needed, unless some truly brilliant songwriter happens by and feels very inspired. :P The current version is quite good, I think.
Edited by 99.235.142.71It's excellent as-is. The only word which might catch one out is "rattling", which should be pronounced with two syllables.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Ahhh, crud. I'll have to add this here:
And this page would not be complete without the XKCD And its definitive reviewing of how Every Major's Terribly
Yeah, it takes some limits with the prosody and language and damn nearly everything else. But here you go.
To Tannhaeuser, the person who tried to delete the incredibly awesome self-demonstrating song to replace it with a boring regular description: I must ask you a very, very important question.
Are you insane?
I'm sorry, that was harsh. But... But seriously! Why! Whyyy
