Regarding the Headscratchers re: Gilderoy Lockhart being the only person applying for DADA teacher that year; while it is revealed later that Snape wanted the job and applied for it repeatedly, that still doesn\'t necessarily mean Hagrid was wrong when he said it. If nothing else, Dumbledore is determined to not let Snape have the job until book 6, when his impending death forces a change in plans; Snape\'s application is thus irrelevant for hiring purposes, because its already set up to be auto-spiked before Snape even finishes signing it, every year.
