Do time-travel movies referencing \\\"the present\\\" really count as \\\'\\\'unintentional\\\'\\\' period pieces? Think about it- in order to establish the difference between \\\"the present\\\" at the time the movie was released- which may be identified like the 1985 of \\\'\\\'BackToTheFuture\\\'\\\', or vague like \\\'\\\'StarTrekIVTheVoyageHome\\\'\\\' which suggests only a vague \\\"late 20th century\\\" (but, based on a few clues- like the news story about the nuclear arms talks stalling, Scotty\\\'s attempts to use a Mac Plus- can be dated pretty firmly to 1986)- you need to set the scene and show how \\\"the present\\\" is different from \\\"the past\\\" or \\\"TheFuture\\\" (whatever time period that may be).
