\\\"Characters that fit this trope must be completely devoid of altruistic qualities. By the same token, they must show no regret for their crimes regardless of how horrible they may be.\\\"

Yeah, but the page also says that I can contest this if I feel character qualifies regardless, and in my book Ronald will always qualify because I feel as though EVERYTHING ELSE he did outweighs the one or two lines of dialogue where he says he was \\\"sorry.\\\" I mean, Ronald said he REALIZED what he was doing was evil, but, in the end, it didn\\\'t stop him from performing those actions anyway. And personally, his line of \\\"remorse\\\" just comes across as too insincere to me. It wasn\\\'t an \\\"Oh my God, I\\\'m a Monster! What have I done?\\\" reaction, it was more of a \\\"I better save face in front of the people who could leave me to die here if I don\\\'t act penitent\\\" reaction.

And again, I feel the need to bring up that Ronald never planned on facing the consequences of his actions. He never thought he would\\\'ve needed to explain himself to anybody! During the conversation with him he even says that if he ran out of safe food, he still wouldn\\\'t have activated the beacon, he just would\\\'ve eatten the toxic food himself and become feral too. He doesn\\\'t say this with a tone of disgust or self-hatred, he says it matter of factly, so the \\\"guilt\\\" doesn\\\'t seem to weigh on him too much.

If Ronald felt truly guilty and remorseful he would\\\'ve activated the beacon to give his crew hope of rescue instead of activating it to save himself. If he felt guilt he would\\\'ve stopped using the Mechs to kill people who posed a threat to his power! If he felt guilt he would\\\'ve STOPPED RAPING THE WOMEN WITH CHILDREN\\\'S MINDS(sorry, I know I mention this point a lot but I just can\\\'t get over it)! If he felt any true guilt then he would\\\'ve done something to sincerely atone a long time ago! By the time Shepard\\\'s crew comes, he\\\'s ONLY apologizing to save his own skin! He didn\\\'t feel bad because his actions were monstrous, he felt bad because he had to face the consequences of being a monster!

Also Shaoken, you say Saren counts as a monster because of him blowing up that refinery, and I agree with you. But Saren at least felt enough remorse for his actions in helping the Reapers to kill himself rather than let him be used as a pawn and help wipe out all life on the galaxy. Even his aid of the Reapers in the first place was an immensely misguided attempt to save at least some organics from the Reapers. I still consider Saren a Complete Monster, but there\\\'s an option for him to feel remorse too, and, to me, it feels far more sincere than anything Ronald Taylor ever said or did.

The Vorcha on Omega I kind of disagree with though. Their species doesn\\\'t come across as too smart and they only live for like twenty years. When the Vorcha \\\"spokesman\\\" says the Collectors would make them strong, I assumed they meant the Collectors lied by promising to help the Vorcha\\\'s race become stronger and live longer. I don\\\'t know if personal power over Omega was ever mentioned as a direct goal, though it may have been a happy bonus. Also, most races on Omega seem to treat the Vorcha like vermin, Garm kills one random Vorcha standing next to him just to prove a point to Grunt, if he\\\'s in the party during the Garrus recruitment mission, and Gavorn appears to ENJOY hunting them. Plus the Blood Pack, who recruit them, use them as cannon fodder.
