There seems to be a general misconception that the Enrichment Center and Portal Gun were both around in TheFifties, when the [[AllThereInTheManual back story]] clearly states that, until 1973, Aperture Fixtures was a shower curtain manufacturer contracted the US Navy. It wasn\'t until Cave Johnson suffered from mercury poisoning in 1974 that it became Aperture Science/Laboratories and the Enrichment Center was built.
