From Westrim: let it go applies to ALL sides of this, erm, discussion. If you simply can\'t, then TakeItToTheForums. It has no place on this page.

Krisnack, there\'s an old saying. \

Krisnack, there\\\'s an old saying. \\\"When in a hole, it\\\'s best to stop digging\\\" FYI an \\\"invasion\\\" that never took place is not a \\\"failed invasion\\\".

As to the comments on Sidewinder, they betray a complete ignorance of how what Sidewinder is and how it works. AIM-9 is indeed a heat-seeking missile; a plume of burning gas is a perfect target for it. It was specifically designed to home in on such things. Now, the exhaust plume from a reheated jet engine essentially is a stream of burning gas. So, the belched burst of gas from the daemon was a perfectly viable target. If you consult the history of air combat in Vietnam and the October War in the Middle East, you will find there are numerous cases of AIM-9 missiles flying into the tailpipes of jet aircraft and exploding within reheat section of the engine itself. That happened to both MiG-21s and MiG17s. On the other side the same thing happened to Israeli A4s and Mirages. In fact, the Israeli A4 was equipped with a modified tail pipe to try and ensure the blast from missiles exploding in that situation took place at a distance removed from the airframe. So the situation described in Armageddon is entirely within the demnstrated parameters and observed performance of the AIM-9. The fact that the person responsible for saying otherwise is unaware of that pretty much destroys his claim to being a former Marine and thus his credibility overall. (In fact the combination of cowardice, blustering, spiteful, petty-mindedness and the claim to former Marine status pretty much identifies him)

I would suggest you and your cronies from Whygodwhy grow up and get a life.
