All indications from what we\\\'ve seen so far point to Chaos and Cosmos not being dead yet, so it can\\\'t be a sequel, especially given that they all go back to their own worlds in the end. So its pretty clearly a prequel.
The prequel is named \\\'\\\'Dissidia 12 Duodecim\\\'\\\', or Dissidia 12 Twelve. With a name like that, it would be a dramatic spoiler-worthy plot twist if it \\\'\\\'wasn\\\'t\\\'\\\' cycle 12.
