Tunnel Boring Machines or TBMs, are AwesomeButImpractical. The terrain must be soft enough to be cut by the usually Diamant-studded hardened heads, but stable enough to dig at least a couple of meters without collapsing over the machine head. Too hard rocks would mean the machine can\'t progress without damaging the cutting heads, too soft and the tunnel would collapse constantly over the machine, endangering itself and the personnel on it.
