WARNING, I\'ve seen all 6 episodes, and I don\'t want to spoil anything, just help for accuracy.

Turns out, Abbot was warning his granddaughter about the strange woman in the trailer.
Apparently, he is Amy\'s grandfather, the daughter of his son PERRY ABBOT.

It was easy to think it was his daughter, a natural conclusion most would come to having not yet seen the episodes.
Intentional misdirection from trailer?
If so, spoiler?
Either way, I struggle to word it correctly, so I haven’t edited it.

Thou \\\"Papa-Bear/Papa-wolf\\\" still would apply I suppose.
Would he not also qualify as:
\\\"The Patriarch\\\"?
His sons do listen to him and sought out guidance in the pilot episode after the Bar incident.
The ranch belongs to his wife\\\'s family yet he helps run it and makes consequential decisions like where the cattle should move to and when and how to do it.

And since he is a protective cool grandpa who even at one point described himself as old to one of Wayne Tillersons sons as well as to his granddaughter, would the trope \\\"Cool Old Guy\\\" not qualify?
Royal Abbot has shown vitality, leadership, cunning, bravery/raw nerve, sordid yet unselfish acts of familial love.
He has at least some code of honor, or at least, shows disgust at a rival ranchers callousness towards a ranch-hands less than dignified death (assuming Royal Abbot account is true, which it presumably is).
\\\"Cool Old Guy\\\" and \\\"The Patriarch\\\" no?
