I want to challenge the recent entry of SpaceIsolationHorror for \\\"The Martian\\\". I see where the troper was going with the example, but since Space Isolation Horror is a subtrope of SciFiHorror, I really don\\\'t think the tone of this movie fits that particular genre.
While Mark does face many of the trappings of the trope, the tone of the story is not abject, soul-sucking horror, but rather the {{Determinator}} who fights to survive after being marooned on the DesertedIsland in space. Instead of allowing himself to GoMadFromTheIsolation, he faces each challenge with as much humor as he can muster... sometimes falling into despair but continuing to push on through.
Essentially the story is a man vs nature challenge and Mark uses every aspect of scientific knowledge that he can to increase the odds of his survival and is ultimately rescued in the end.
I\\\'ve contacted the troper who added the example by DM to solicit feedback but have not heard back. I\\\'m opening it to general discussion with the suggestion that entry be removed because it\\\'s not an applicable trope for this film.
