* In 1996, Wrestling/TripleH took the blame for the \"Curtain Call\" incident that saw himself and then-Wrestling/{{W|orld Wrestling Federation}}WF Champion Wrestling/ShawnMichaels say goodbye to their RealLife-friends Wrestling/KevinNash (Diesel) and Wrestling/ScottHall (Razor Ramon) as they depart to Wrestling/{{WCW}}. As a result, Triple H was [[DemotedToExtra demoted to jobber status]] for a while. Ironically, before the incident, he was supposed to win that year\'s King of the Ring tournament (that honor would go to Wrestling/StoneColdSteveAustin, and the rest is history)

Triple H wasn\'t scapegoated; [[TakingTheHeat he took the heat]] for the Curatain Call. Hall and Nash couldn\'t be punished because they were already leaving the company. Michaels was protected by virtue of being the champion: punishing him would disrupt too many storylines. Triple H was the only one who could be punished, so he was. No one thinks the Curtain Call was Helmsley\'s \"fault.\"
