Dragonball is said to derive a lot from Journey To The West, but I'm not sure if these two elements are from it.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."I know about the Journey to the West elements used in Dragonball, and no, those two elements weren't in it. The myth is referred to on two different trope pages on This Very Wiki. One area states that the Super transformation was from a myth about a golden warrior, and the other mentions seven gems. It's literally all I have to go on.
Sonic having seven chaos emeralds and turning into Super Sonic is a direct reference to DB's seven Dragon Balls and the Super Saiyan form.
Somehow you know that the time is right.Yes, I know that. However, I've heard that those two elements in DB were based on a legend and I'm trying to find the legend.
Maybe Persian myth? I think there were seven virtues and seven daevas or something, but my memory is extremely fuzzy.

I've heard that both Dragonball and Sonic drew certain elements from the same myth. Specifically, the seven gems and the golden warrior. Can anyone point me in the direction of that myth?
