I've been digging into TGWTG for a podcast of mine and "That sucks" kind of describes it all. There is some intense mismanagement and abuse happening behind the scenes, and it really taints the whole medium for me.

ah, apologies. It was brought up a lot in my research and I assumed it was a bigger part of his leaving.

When did the rape accusations start, exactly? Was it during the incident itself or afterwards?

As for LordKat, I can't find the original post now, but JO said on Something Awful forums that although he was right about Channel Awesome business practices, he had abused people much worse than CA. So make of that what you will.

As for Michaud, according to Lupa, he does hold at least partial rights to the Critic as a character. So yeah, it might be hard to force him to step down.

Wow. He made him sign over the character, and kicked out the other two founders to make him sole dictator boss of the site?

That sounds outright sinister.

I personally don't give much credence to people's blog about a third party's ownership of X or Y. No Offense to Lupa :-P

@Odie: I can't believe someone actually went back and cut all those bits together. Fans are terrifying.

Also, I miss Kazi.

The abuse suffered by Mike is pretty well documented. Stuff like yelling at them until they cry. It's pretty harrowing to see the man behind the site is so malicious. He's also pretty fucking stupid as a business man. Again, a lot of this is from Lord Kat, but it looks like Michaud was offered some pretty lucrative deals from places like Ustream and passed them up, thinking they were beneath the site, and not trying to work something out with youtube, instead focusing on the slowly dying Blip.

Well Lord Kat did ask for it.

So I just watched Calluna's Screen Shots review of The Mummy, and I'm thinking I'll probably watch more of her videos in the future. It's got some good funny bits, the presentation is delightfully old school, and I can't help drooling over the contents of her bookshelves.

Today in Motyka5 and Channel Awesome's New Talent... Except Not Quite So, This Time:

• Hey, remember how Rebel Taxi allegedly joined the site? Well, he thought so, but since he missed a Skype call from Mike, he got kicked off. He talks about it here (skip to 28:46).

Seems not being at Mike's beck and call is now the primary way to be booted off the site!

This is sliding into Dick Dastardly territory. Again, real businesses use phone calls, not Skype.

I'm pretty sure real businesses also wait more than one phone call before totally giving up on someone.

On a side note, wow, these guys are the most obnoxious podcast. With the random sound bites and the chewing sound.

I've seen far worse. I didn't think it was that bad at all, all things considered. Better than that Lord Kat stuff posted earlier.

While I do enjoy Pan's vids sometimes,yeah his podcasts can get pretty obnoxious.

Man, it seems Lordkat really thinks he's a Lord, or something. I understand he's like one of the "original early video game online players", but man, he seems like he's got an ego.

Nah, that's just a put on for the Live! show, which is supposed to emulate shock jock radio.

Honestly, I feel like Pan's videos can be more obnoxious. Too many offensive jokes clearly shoved in there solely for the purpose of being offensive.

Chipping in here to say; disappointed by finding all of this out.

Honestly, I went on to CA for Jesu, N Chick and the Critic and only one of them is left standing here. Really disappointed to see both of the former move on, though their reasons for doing so are pretty clear but now, ehn, there's not too many I'm left following.

I'm not the biggest fan of Lupa's (or the other departed Hosts') work but CA's treatment of them is a real disappointment is has me not really wanting to check the site. I'll probably slink back eventually, but I'm hoping I can hold out until there is some sort of resolution to this (even just recognizing complaints and commiting to doing a better job at HR). Otherwise, I might end up shifting away from internet reviewers and find some other way to kill internet time.

The problem is not internet reviewers, it's their boss(es).

Besides, you can still watch those who left and are still doing videos through other websites.
