Wow everyone's really unloading into CA now the damn has finally broken.
I heard a rumor that Michaud is the actual owner of the Nostalgia Critic as an intellectual property, part of being a/one of the top execs at Channel Awesome. So there's no way Doug or Rob would be able to get rid of or replace him without losing their ability to produce the site's main draw, assuming he would be a dick about it after leaving which all evidence thus far says would be likely.
No idea how legitimate it is, but I think it's one good way to explain why this asshole is still working with them.
But that's a story for another time.
Unless Doug handed over the rights to him that should be impossible since Doug created the character himself to use for early videos before Channel Awesome was a thing, and before he'd even met this guy.
I think anyway.
Well, his story wasn't as bad. He said before that he was basically "not a creator" and was tagging along, but still.
Mike's basically never appears in any videos. He had a cameo on the street in the "Critic Vs. AVGN" special, and I thought he looked like just a regular guy. Didn't look too intimidating.

I've only ever seen Ven in a couple BHH eps and kyle always used female pronouns; is that just a public thing or did I seriously miss something?
I know we're unloading on Mike a lot here but honestly the portrait I'm getting of Doug and Rob isn't much better. I'm not sure if they just sort of ignore the bad behavior for whatever reason or if they agree with it.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?
I've watched every BHH and I'm hard-pressed to remember any instance of Ven being referred to with female pronouns, but Ven has been very public about using male ones on his Tumblr.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.
From what I understand, Rob is not much different from Michaud, while Doug is the 'nice' guy who prefers to pretend nothing's wrong to avoid conflict.

Yeah. Doug's supposely not a jerk, he's seemingly as geniunely nice a guy as he appears to be for better or worse, worse being he won't get involved in disputes and would rather hope everything works out rather than upset anyone, even though as the main draw he could put pressure on Michaud. He'll always defer to Michaud because he's the boss though, and won't confront him.
Rob is kind of jerk, but he's supposedly at least tries to be polite about things. Michaud meanwhile just gives no cares about what people thinks and has no qualms being a tyrant.
Doug's problem apparantly is that he's a workaholic and doesn't understand a non workaholic way of thinking about things. When Lupa wanted more money of the videos she already had, and Michaud wanted her to be happy with what she had, Doug's solution was just for her to make more videos even though she was already working pretty hard.
Basically, Doug is nice guy to the point he offends lots of people by trying to avoid offending anyone and has problem with lack of empathy due to his naive way of thinking. And completely unsuitable as leader that people are assuming him to be because he is the "biggest" producer.
To be fair, people shouldn't assume he is the guy in control just because he is the NC As belittling as it is, imagine that he is a kid instead of adult man and then his behavior makes more sense.
Rob on the otherhand is probably nice if you know him and he is your friend, but not so much if you don't know him personally.(which is something you can probably see from vlogs since while he is pretty nice and thoughtful in them, he is definitely more sarcastic out of two of them) But he doesn't appear to be Michaud level of sociopath at least since he does know how to be polite about his jerk moves :p
Now I have no clue how Michaud acts like with his friends, but to everyone else he appears to be borderline sociopath from witness reports :p

Just sayin' that even though I wasn't having quotation marks, thats not what I refer to him. I refer Michaud as Supreme Asshole, sociopath is what ex producers are essentially calling him <_<
Besides, even if I was calling him that, doesn't it just mean actual incapability of empathy?

I was debating whether or not to post this in the thread, but you guys seem to already be discussing something similar, so here you go:
For those of you who are newer to TGWTG Lord Kat was a contributor to Channel Awesome a long time ago, and ultimately left over an unfounded controversy. Lord Kat's notable because he himself has been slowly building a web presence and is even putting together a convention. As such, he's very critical of Channel Awesome's business practices, and has first hand experience with the upper management. It's really interesting, and gives a lot of insight to the site's recent failings. It's obviously a very long cut, but the description of the video gives time stamps to specific issues. It's really interesting, I'd recommend giving it a listen.

Why did Lord Kat leave anyway? I thought it had to do something with telling Spoony to kill himself, was that a separate thing from "unfounded controversy" you are talking about?

Lord Kat had issues with a lot of the CA team for incompetency for a while,but he ultimately left when he was accused of rape at a MA Gfest. The "rape" was him making out with a drunk woman, a woman who has been very vocal that there was no rape, and her disgust at the way CA handled it. She's also said a subset of TGWTG "fans" harassed her for sometime about it.
For the record, lordKat has apologized about his comments towards spoony. He seemed to have gone through an intense time and was in a fragile state when he said what he said to spoony.

CA had nothing to do with anything that happened at MAG Fest, LK left long before that. I'm the person LK has decided originally accused him of rape and I did no such thing. People did leave a site over what happened at MAG Fest there (I was one of them) but that site was Reviewtopia.
