Is Cha-Cha any good?

After the Escort Mission where I got him, I haven't taken him along. He seems way too fragile.

Yes, Cha-Cha is very valuable; his dances can heal you or give you strength/defense buffs, he will also learn elemental attacks which can turn the battle in your favor as certain monsters are weak against specific elements. For example: Rathian is weak to Thunder

If Cha-Cha runs low on life, he will disappear until he regains it, if he runs out, he will come back but it will take a longer time. Be sure to buy dances from the Argony trader as he can restore more HP or cure poison with those dances.

I'm fighting Lagiacrus now; I had an easier time online since I had a party with me. He isn't too hard, just have Thunder Resistance and you should be fine, I lost to him though, so I still need better armor, or getting the armor from the monster parts from the Lagiacrus hunt online if people will be willing to help.

I also got some good furniture online; A tundra plant, and a gobul lamp. It only costs a few materials to brainstorm possible furniture, and you gain points towards it every 3 quests.

Actually it's possible to get Cha Cha back BEFORE capturing the Lagiacrus...jsut do every single other quest first and do the capture mission last.

Hm.

So, in the online portion of Tri, where would you say the various weapon specialties fall under An Adventurer Is You?

Near as I can tell, Lance-wielders are the Tank, (though almost anyone who's skilled at dodging can be a blink tank), Sword and Shielders are the Jack, Longswordsmen and almost every other Blademaster style is the DPSer, and Gunners can dabble in being a Nuker, a Mezzer, or the Healer.

Mezzer? But yeah, lances rock.

...don't Nukers generally do high(or respectable) damage? Not sure if Gunners really qualify in Tri.

Seems like hammers would be more intuitive as nukers.

Well, he can "rain down death from afar", he's got some area-of-effect ammo, and he can exploit Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors, but yeah, probably not the best Nuker.

Mezzer?

Think about it: by packing the proper ammo, a gunner can inflict Poison, Fireblight, Paint the enemy, Weaken them, Stun them, Tranq them, etc. etc.

Pellet shots certainly deal quite a bit of damage.

Weakens the enemy by afflicting status effects.

Cha-cha levels up and his stats gets better. I suggest giving him the Waka-waka dance and Ooga-boo dance (green and yellow), as two of the combinations gives varying levels of healing, one dance is an attack boost, and the other is an antidote effect.

And even if you do do all the other quests, you still have to catch the Lagiacrus in order to bring him back.

In weapons-related news, I'm only one Flame Sac away from being ablt to upgrade that Tarnished Lance into the Undertaker, one of the best lances in the game.

At least you got it. I farmed over 1000 Earth Crystals without getting a single one, and that's WITH the resource map.

So now I have a shiny new lance that has 368 raw damage and 250 dragon element thanks to a Rathian giving me not one but TWO flame sacs. I then found out how much practice I need in order to use a lance properly with the Wii Remote control style, as it requires some twisting and vertical holding.

By the way, does your hunter naturally hold lances in his/her left and shield in his/her right?

I'm pretty sure you can hit them with the blunt side of it. You may have to refer to your instruction booklet for your specific control scheme, though.

...Okay I hope that works...(I tried kicking them... Then I started to feel sorry for them.(for some reason, with beginning weapon I never managed to kill them, so I thought it was impossible O_o; Now I'm having opposite problem...))

And I came in conclusion that you can't "hit with blunt side" with great sword.

Actually, a very easy way to do it is to grab the starting Hammer from the shop and just straight aim towards the head. They should easily be stunned then. You can try shield-bashing with a Lance set or possibly even Sword and Shield (not sure about that one).

But the only way to stun a monster regardless of size is to hit them with blunt force; kicking, slicing, piercing, etc won't work too well.

You can stun with a Great Sword, it takes a single hit with the blunt of the sword to stun a Kelbi.

If you have your weapon out start with a kick and then press the attack button, that should result in a side slap.

Protip with lances. I tend to spend my time turtling and advancing on the enemy. Once I'm close, I hold forward and hit A to do a dodgeroll, A again to shieldbash, and then mash A to segue into the stab combo. I feel it's a pretty safe way to do a combo attack while dodging enemy moves.

Of course, turtling up and just doing shieldpokes is fine too, but it takes a long time.

Waaaaait a second.

The Uppity Instructor just said, and I quote: "I have more money than the Guild. Screw the rules!"

Could that possibly be...

^^ I usually just keep doing stab combos and rely on the auto-guard charm.
